A Letter From Jaiven



               Let me start by saying that I never could have predicted how God’s plan for my life was going to look. The good news is that I will never be able to claim that I had a boring life. The better news is that, given the option, I would choose to live no other life than the one I have been given and am eager for whatever adventures lie ahead!

              It wasn’t intentional but when, presented with two options, I have developed a habit of choosing the path less taken. Don’t believe me? In the last three years alone I have turned down 3 scholarships and ended up paying my way through college, opted out of being given 2 established businesses and started my own instead, negotiated a 7 figure deal, generated $500,000 in sales, bought an apartment complex, and asked a Sports Illustrated model out on a date. As I’m sure you can agree, I live life in a bit of a blur. But, through it all, I’ve had several constants. First, God has always had better plans than I could have ever dreamed. Second, my family has constantly supported me (although I’m certain that I gave my parents more than a few grey hairs when I let the scholarship offers pass). Lastly, I have found some of the most amazing friends and business partners I could have ever hoped for (another “God thing”).  

            Its amazing how when you meet the right people at the right time, it doesn’t take long to accomplish things that you may have never even considered to be possibilities. At least, that has been the experience that I have had since Emanuel, Christian, and I met. Our concept for FLO came about after about 2 weeks of friendship and I really do believe that neither of us could have done it without input from the others. The “Cliff’s Notes” version of the story is that we could sick and tired of passing out business cards and never getting anything in response. If only we could exchange contact information and gain the means to follow up with our prospects directly rather than depending on secretaries or gatekeepers to communicate the value of our services, we felt that we could supercharge our efficiency. Looking back, I can’t help but chuckle. We had heard of electronic business cards that interacted with smartphones but when we started looking around online, we were shocked by some of the prices we saw! In the sales world, paying $80 for a card really isn’t that bad if you consider the fact that one sale could easily produce exponential returns. Still… it sounded expensive to us so we set out to build our own. We built prototype after prototype, watched a lot of YouTube, read everything we could get our hands on, and slowly but surely our concept became to take shape and come to life. I’m sorry to report that our original purpose was a dismal failure. After buying all the materials, software, and printers necessary to produce a card, we ended up paying a hefty several thousand dollars. So… In an attempt to recover our losses and share our fun with others, we started to sell the cards as a side hustle! But, the craziest thing started to happen and everyone we shared our cards with told us the same thing: “This could be the next big thing!” And you know what? If you ask me, I think they’re right!

            Long story short, here we are and YOU can be a part of the next big thing! Who knows what kind of opportunities await our FLO fan base and family? I can tell you one thing… I can’t wait to find out. As one of my favorite screenwriters, Eric Roth, once said, until we meet again, my friends, “I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of…” and I hope that maybe, just maybe a FLO Card could be a gateway to the life you’ve always dreamed of living.
